No time!

Feel a bit pathetic writing this seeing as I only have one follower...but if I ever get more you can know why I havn't been posting lately!

I've been moving house due to terrible neighbours therefore have been living a hellish life of ready meals..I am not proud of this at all but staying at someone else's house you have to make do! Heading back home tomorrow so will be able to cook freely again! THANK GOD.

I wont even review one of these meals as I don't feel they are fit for human consumption but times are hard. Anyway I will be baking a cake next week as I was requested to have a baking recipe involved. So that will happen with pictures and instructions and joy!

Budgets! Bargains! Bulk buying! Oh my..

I am very budget conscious when it comes to planning my own meals and as my first proper post thought i'd share with you an example of what I buy in an average week and what I can create.

I think the best tool available when it comes to shopping is My supermarket I do my shopping online and get it delivered but even if you go to the store weekly, it is a good idea to check this website out and put your shopping list in as it compares all the major stores and you may find that you aren't getting the most for your money where you currently shop!

I shop at Asda as I find that my money really stretches a lot further. I live with my boyfriend Connaugh so it means that we split the cost, which can make life a lot easier in terms of bulk buying! It's always worth asking your housemates if they are prepared to split the costs on certain items such as potatoes and onions  that way you wont feel like you have to use onions in every recipe because you're worried about them going off!

This weeks shopping list:

Unsalted Cashews £1
SP 700g mixed peppers £1.58
400g Cherry tomatoes £1.20
1kg Oranges 67p
4 Baking potatoes 70p
Tinned chopped tomatoes 20p
Paprika 52p
Ground Cumin 54p
SP Muesli 94p
3 Courgettes £1
1kg Red Onions 97p
1kg Brown onions 97p
Cucumber 80p
Round lettuce 50p
Kiwi's £1.12
SP Pork and beef mince £1.20
SP Chicken breasts £4.51
SP Whole Chicken £3.74
SP Chicken drumsticks £2.98
150ml Single cream 45p
2pt Skimmed milk 89p
Fresh coriander 50p
Carrots 21p
Lime 30p
Wholemeal bread 60p
Total= £26.69

Bearing in mind thats for two and when added to store cupboard basics such as pasta, rice flour and eggs you can create a lot of tasty meals on an incredibly low budget!

So far this week from this I have made a Chicken Korma, Greek style pasta bake, chicken chilli goujons and will make traditional lasagne, a roast, and some kind of herby chicken wing surprise! This will all last a few days into the next week and left overs help go into other meals such as left over roast chicken will go into a yummy garlic chicken and potato bake!

Bargain this week:

CHEF KUO Chopped garlic in marinade 49p from Home and Bargain

It's exactly the same as 'Very lazy garlic' except for instead of paying £1.47 you get 20g more for a much better price! A teaspoon of this and you've saved yourself time chopping or crushing, crushing being a sensitive subject seeing as my boyfriend threw mine away without my knowledge..and has not bought me a replacement as of yet!

Anyway happy cooking for now, eat some oranges and avoid scurvy.

Hello

Hello and welcome to my first ever blogpost! In this blog I intend to post recipes that I have made myself and loved and the amount they will cost you to create yourself. As a student myself, I understand how far you have to make your money stretch and how problematic that can be when it comes to eating something healthy and a bit more than pasta!
